Vancouver among top 20 cities in new global travel ranking | News

The upcoming travel season is shaping up to be a busy one for Vancouver, and a new global ranking has named the city one of the best for globetrotters in their golden years.

United Kingdom-based AllClear Travel recently unveiled the most grandparent-friendly cities to visit in 2026.

According to AllClear, travelling later in life doesn’t mean one has to slow down.

“It simply means choosing destinations that prioritize comfort, safety, accessibility and enjoyment,” said its report.

AllClear analyzed 175 global destinations for factors such as walkability, safety, accessibility, healthcare access, and public transport.

To identify the world’s most ‘grandparent-friendly’ cities, we focused on the features that make travelling later in life more pleasant,” explained AllClear.

“Rather than action-packed itineraries or vibrant nightlife options, our analysis prioritized walkable streets, comfortable environments and ease of sightseeing.”

Vancouver came in 19th on the list of cities ideal for senior travellers, scoring 59.3.

It is also the only Canadian city in the top 30 for AllClear’s ranking.

The city’s strongest categories were “walkable,” which scored 9.7, “green space,” which received 10.9, and “culture access,” which got a 10.5.

AllClear’s lowest scores for Vancouver were in “climate comfort,” which received a 4.9, and “peace and quiet,” which only got a 3.7.

Several B.C. spots recently received recommendations for world travellers in 2026.

Lonely Planet, which covers the world’s “most extraordinary places and experiences,” revealed that the province is one of the 25 must-visit destinations for the year to come.

Four B.C. destinations were also named top travel spots for Canadians this winter, including Vancouver and Whistler.
