Palawan has been named among the best places to go in 2026 by travel guide authority Frommer’s.
The archipelagic province in Southern Luzon was recognized for its breathtaking isles and islets that attract divers, snorkelers, spelunkers, and island hoppers the world over.
Frommer’s also highlighted the wonder that is Puerto Princesa’s Subterranean River National Park. The underground river, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, is home to critically endangered species and hundreds of endemic plants and animals.
“The province’s biggest island, also called Palawan, has plenty to see and do for all of those types of visitors, plus unique natural landmarks such as Puerto-Princesa Subterranean River National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where imposing limestone karst cliffs conceal dramatic caves you can explore via boat tours on an underground river,” said Frommer’s.
Frommer’s released the latest edition of its popular annual Best Places to Go list in October.
The unranked list also included other destinations like Chicago, Illinois; Jasper, Alberta, Canada; Viti Levu, Fiji; Oulu, Finland; Algarve, Portugal; Patagonia Azul, Argentina; Vienna, Austria; Hot Springs, Arkansas; Kruger National Park, South Africa; and many more.
Palawan often gets recognized among the best islands in the world by various publications. In October, Palawan made it to Condé Nast Traveler’s (CNT) Top 10 Islands in Asia in its 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards alongside Boracay and Siargao.
Last year, it ranked 10th on the Most Desirable Island in the world list by Wanderlust Travel Magazine, and 13th on the 25 Best Islands to Visit Around the World list by Travel + Leisure.
