Operation ahead of critical security cabinet meeting

This operation took place ahead of the scheduled security cabinet meeting on Thursday, during which decisions will be made about whether Israel will take action to fully occupy the Gaza Strip.

The government’s plan for Gaza, backed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is expected to include plans to occupy new portions of the enclave, sources told The Jerusalem Post on Wednesday.

The plan is expected to include around five IDF divisions and last roughly five months.

It will also involve moving about one million Gaza City residents and is likely to be approved on Thursday, cabinet ministers told the Post, adding that “the real question is what version of the plan will ultimately be approved.”
