Celebrities flock to world’s favorite travel destination for cherry blossom photos

While vacationing in Japan during cherry blossom season, a number of Vietnamese celebrities captured the iconic scenery in photos, sharing their experiences in the world’s favorite travel destination.

Actress Phuong Oanh and her businessman husband Nguyen Hoa Binh visited Japan last week and took photos on a street lined with cherry trees.
Earlier, the couple shared photos of themselves wearing traditional Japanese attire and enjoying sashimi at a restaurant.
The Japanese Meteorological Agency (JMA) on March 30 declared the country’s most common and popular “somei yoshino” variety of cherry tree in full bloom in Tokyo.
Although 2025’s blooming dates are around the average, the JMA says climate change and the urban heat-island effect are causing sakura to flower approximately 1.2 days earlier every 10 years.

In late March, Miss Vietnam 2016 runner-up Ngo Thanh Thanh Tu also traveled to Japan with her husband to admire the cherry blossoms in full bloom.
A weak yen is attracting more visitors than ever to Japan, named the world’s most favorite travel destination in the 2024 edition of Condé Nast Traveler’s annual Readers’ Choice Awards, with national tourism figures released in January showing a record of about 36.8 million arrivals in 2024.

During their trip to Japan in early April, comedians Thu Trang and Tien Luat also enjoyed the cherry blossoms at their peak, a season that typically begins in late March and lasts through April.
The couple also visited an ancient village in Osaka, a large port city and commercial center on the Japanese island of Honshu and known for its modern architecture, nightlife and hearty street food.

In mid-March, Tang Thanh Ha, daughter-in-law of luxury retail tycoon Johnathan Hanh Nguyen, took her daughter Chloe to Japan for a skiing trip and to see cherry blossoms in a Tokyo park.
Some of the most popular cherry blossom viewing spots in the city include Ueno Park, home to over 1,000 cherry trees and host of Tokyo’s largest Hanami (flower viewing) festival, as well as Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden and Inokashira Park.

Le Thao Nhi, first runner-up of Miss Universe Vietnam 2022, has just returned from a trip to Tokyo.
She shared: “Tokyo is never boring! No matter how many times I visit, the city never fails to amaze me — from its vibrant streets to its endless culinary adventures and incredible fashion. But this trip felt extra special because I finally got to witness the magical beauty of the cherry blossoms in full bloom on the last day of my trip. Grateful for this beautiful moment.”

“It was raining in Hanoi, but in Japan, the cherry blossoms were basking in bright sunshine,” she said.
