Cincinnati police have released camera footage that shows a person damaging the Marty Brennaman statue outside Great American Ball Park.
What’s in the video?
The video is about a minute long.
The footage begins with a person next to the statue. They are standing on their toes and appear to be grabbing the bronze microphone on the statue.
Former Reds commentator, Marty Brennaman’s recently installed statue has been damaged outside of Great American Ball Park.
On their first try, the person is able to break the microphone from its original place. At this point in the video, the microphone is still connected to the statue but is now in a different direction.
The person then tries to climb up the statue before they return to the ground, leaning on the statue stand and looking over their shoulder.
The microphone is mostly missing from Marty Brennanman’s recently installed statue.
There is a cut in the video when the person walks away from the statue. After the cut, the person can be seen walking back towards it.
When they walk back, they continue trying to loosen and pull off the microphone.
Nearly a minute in, the person appears to be successful in removing the microphone, holding it in their hands.
The person then climbs up the statue one last time and is almost completely on top of the statue’s stand before they jump back to the ground and walk away from the camera.
A spokesman with the Cincinnati Police says they have no further information at this time but asks anyone who can identify the person or who has other information to call Detective Blank at 513-352-5442 or the non-emergency line at 513-765-1212.
What did the Reds say?
The Reds are looking into the situation.
When asked about the statue’s damages and if there were security cameras in the area, a spokesperson with the Reds did not share any information.
