A perennial favorite of Travel + Leisure’s readers, the Holy City earned a spot on the World’s Best Awards Hall of Fame for U.S. cities. November brings dry weather in the 60s, the beginning of the Holiday Festival of Lights, and the annual Food & Wine Classic (November 14-16), a three-day event highlighting local cuisine and culture co-hosted by T+L and Southern Living. The walkable city personifies Southern charm. Whether you’re there for a weekend escape, the food festival, or for an autumn getaway, there’s so much to do in this popular city.

Where to Stay: T+L readers named these hotels as their favorites in the 2025 World’s Best Awards.

Mild temperatures in the 60s make November a pleasant time to be in Austin, and if you need another reason to visit “The Live Music Capital of the World,” the annual Austin Food & Wine Festival is set for November 7 to 9. You can hike, bike, or get on the water at Lady Bird Lake, explore Austin’s varied neighborhoods, visit a museum, or watch the bats fly from the Congress Avenue Bridge—there’s always something fun to do in Austin. About 130 miles east, the Texas Renaissance Festival, one of the nation’s largest, runs for eight weeks starting in mid-October.

Where to Stay: T+L readers voted for their favorite Austin hotels in the 2025 World’s Best Awards. Be one of the first to enjoy the newly renovated Driskill Bar when it reopens in October at the historic hotel. Hotel ZaZa Austin, Omni Austin Hotel Downtown, and Hotel Viata are more options.

Genres include blues, bluegrass, gospel, country, hip-hop, jazz, Caribbean, African, and more. Jackson, the state’s capital and largest city, is home to the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum, the Mississippi Museum of Art, and the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame. Named as an affordable road trip destination, Jackson offers pleasant weather in the 60s during November, along with beautiful fall scenery.

Notable for its stunning beaches, Sarasota is also home to a walkable downtown and my favorite spot to see, The Ringling. It’s home to a stunning art museum, a palatial historic home, a circus museum, vast gardens, and a theater, all set along the sea. From November 14 to 17, the Siesta Key Crystal Classic International Sand Sculpting Festival transforms Siesta Beach into an open-air gallery with works of art created from the area’s quartz-crystal sand.

Where to Stay: Downtown boutique Art Ovation Hotel, Autograph Collection, is located near St. Armands Circle shopping. Cirque St. Armands Beachside is an elegant new hotel on Lido Island. St. Regis Longboat Key was on T+L’s 2025 It List of Best New Hotels of the Year. The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota offers exclusive access to The Beach Club on Lido Key.

November is National Aviation History Month, and Colorado Springs offers several ways to celebrate aviation. There’s the National Museum of World War II Aviation, the Peterson Air & Space Museum, and the U.S. Air Force Academy, where visitors are welcome. Get in the spirit at The Airplane Restaurant or stay at the new Hotel Polaris, the only U.S. hotel to offer flight simulators. There’s a chill in the air, but Garden of the Gods is open, and the red rocks, views, and hiking trails are gorgeous. Check the show schedule at the Ford Amphitheater or plan a visit to the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum for a glimpse into local history.

Where to Stay: Aviation-themed Hotel Polaris features mid-century modern design. The Broadmoor was named a T+L reader-favorite Colorado resort in the 2025 World’s Best Awards. The downtown Mining Exchange Hotel seamlessly blends vintage style with modern comforts.

There’s always something to do in Las Vegas, whether it’s a top-name performer at The Sphere, dining at a celebrity chef’s restaurant, or soaring over the strip in the High Roller. Surprisingly, there are plenty of free things to do, and I’d add people watching to the list. From November 20 to 22, the Las Vegas Formula 1 Grand Prix returns, with drivers topping 215 miles per hour as they race along the Strip Circuit. Summer’s sizzling temperatures are past, and it’s a perfect time to explore the nearby Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, where there’s hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, and more.

Where to Stay: T+L readers voted for their favorite Las Vegas hotels in the 2025 World’s Best Awards. Away from the Las Vegas Strip, stay at Green Valley Ranch or Durango Casino & Resort.

Monterey Peninsula, California

Chilly temperatures, fewer visitors, and whale watching are a few reasons to visit the Monterey area in November. The Big Sur Food & Wine Festival takes place from November 6 to 8, attracting top chefs and winemakers. It’s peak season to see the monarch butterflies at the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History. Golfers enjoy “sweater golf” at local courses, and visiting Pebble Beach is impressive even if you never pick up a golf club. The 17 Mile Drive is lovely year-round, and fall colors enhance the views. In Monterey, don’t miss the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and a stroll through Carmel-by-the-Sea is always a pleasure.

Where to Stay: The oceanfront Sanctuary Beach Resort offers a spa and a cozy beach bonfire experience. Monterey Beach Hotel is another option with ocean views. The Quail and Carmel Valley Ranch both feature golf courses. In Carmel-by-the-Sea, stay at Le Petit Pali, La Playa Hotel, or Stilwell Hotel.

November marks the tail end of what many Angelenos refer to as “our summer,” when the weather is warm and clear, seasonal visitors have departed, and it’s ideal for outdoor activities like hiking, beach walks, and al fresco dining. A bike ride through the South Bay’s beach cities is a great way to explore that part of Los Angeles, and there are many free activities. The Los Angeles Auto Show, taking place from November 21 to 30 at the downtown Convention Center, features exhibits, hands-on experiences, and test drives. From contemporary art to nature, automobiles, archaeology, motion pictures, and a replica of an Italian villa in Malibu, Los Angeles has a museum for every interest.

Morocco celebrates its independence on November 18 with parades, music, folk dances, and family meals. Sicily, Italy

On a trip to Sicily ten years ago, I fell in love with the coastal city of Taormina (as did many viewers of White Lotus). There’s so much to love about Sicily, and you can drive along modern highways, tour by bike, or choose a historic city like Noto, known for its Baroque architecture, to explore in depth. November’s mild weather and fewer visitors make it an ideal time to see well-preserved archaeological sites, including the Greek amphitheater in Taormina, the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, and the Hellenic temple in Segesta.

Where to Stay: Luxurious Verdura Resort, located on Sicily’s southwest Mediterranean coast, is a Rocco Forte Hotels property, as is Palermo’s Villa Igiea. Villa Sant’Andrea, a Belmond Hotel, offers a beach club and gorgeous views. Mazzaro Sea Palace, San Domenico Palace, a Four Seasons Hotel in Taormina, Ortigia’s Orteo Palace Hotel, and Q92 in Noto are excellent options.

Throughout Mexico—in all of T+L readers’ favorite cities—Día de Los Muertos (November 1 to 2) celebrations honor deceased loved ones. Families prepare ofrendas (altars) adorned with photographs, flowers, and the deceased’s favorite foods. The atmosphere is one of remembrance, marked by parades, music, cemetery visits, colorful facial makeup, costumes, and family gatherings. Mexico City hosts large parades, Oaxaca displays elaborate altars, and San Miguel de Allende is known for marigold-lined cobblestone streets and the Catrina Parade. In Todos Santos, art galleries put on displays, and residents walk through the town at night with candles and music. Giant catrinas, altars, face painting, mariachis, and a parade mark Día de los Muertos in Los Cabos.

Where to Stay: We’ve rounded up the best resorts in Mexico. Numu Boutique Hotel is a new property in San Miguel de Allende. Villa Santa Cruz is in Todos Santos, and Rosewood Mandarina is on Riviera Nayarit.
