A large mixed-use development plan is being created for Waukesha County’s Pabst Farms

A 210-acre mixed-use development plan is in the works for western Waukesha County’s Pabst Farms site.

The proposal from property owner Pabst Farms Development and Milwaukee-based developer Cobalt Partners LLC will cover lands within Oconomowoc and Summit, according to an Oct. 2 statement from the firms and both communities.

The work is preliminary, with plan details not yet available. The parcels are north and south of Interstate 94, west of Sawyer Road.

“We see this project as an opportunity to reinforce the live-work-play promise of Pabst Farms while respecting the character of both communities,” said Brian Bell, of Pabst Farms Development.

“With Pabst Farms, we see a chance to collaborate with municipal leaders and neighbors to shape a mixed-use district that blends rural character with modern vitality and creates a place where families, businesses and nature grow together,” said Scott Yauck, Cobalt founder and CEO.

The approach allows the village and city to review a proposal for development together rather than pursuing fragmented projects, said Jack Riley, Summit village president, and Oconomowoc Mayor Robert Magnus.

An initial public information meeting is planned for Oct. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Summit Elementary School, 1680 Valley Road, Oconomowoc. Residents, business owners, and other stakeholders are encouraged to attend to learn more and share their perspectives.

Pabst Farms includes housing, retail, a medical center, and a YMCA.
