Tripadvisor names Hanoi, Ninh Binh among world’s best travel experiences – VnExpress International

The awards, based on reviews and ratings collected over the previous year from travelers, have two tiers: Best of the Best to honor the top 1% of properties with outstanding reviews and Travelers’ Choice recognizing the top 10% for consistent quality and service.

For 2025 the Best of the Best list is divided into five categories: Destinations, Beaches, Hotels, Things to Do, and Restaurants.

Subcategories are also awarded within each.

This year’s restaurant results have not yet been announced.

Destinations

To be included, destinations must offer everything travelers seek “and more.”

Vietnam’s capital Hanoi ranked seventh globally. Tripadvisor describes Hanoi as a city where history is preserved with modern growth, from the old quarter and colonial landmarks to sites like Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

Travelers are encouraged to explore by scooter or on foot and to sample its signature flavors, from banh mi and noodles with grilled pork (bun cha) to bia hoi, a light beer with low alcohol content.

Hotels

Hotels must meet top standards for service, comfort and guest satisfaction. Vietnam has two representatives in the list.

Grandvrio Ocean Resort Da Nang, situated between Da Nang and Hoi An, has been recognized for its beachfront location and high-end facilities.

The places has 54 private pool villas and nearly 100 ocean-view rooms. Guests can choose from three restaurants, while the on-site spa emphasizes wellness treatments.

La Siesta Classic Ma May in Hanoi is included as a place that combines boutique luxury with the charm of the old quarter.

Located on Ma May Street within walking distance of Hoan Kiem Lake, the hotel has 50 rooms, including suites with sitting areas and duplexes designed for families and groups. Facilities include a spa, fitness center and private movie room.

Things to do

This category recognizes activities travelers unanimously call unforgettable.

A one-day Ninh Binh tour from Hanoi by Aloha Vietnam Travel & Guide topped Tripadvisor’s “25th Anniversary Best Experiences in the World” celebrating activities beloved since 2000 for their timeless appeal.

The 11-hour trip (maximum nine participants) covers Hoa Lu, Mua Cave, Tam Coc, and Bich Dong Pagoda, with lunch and limousine transfers included.

“It was the perfect mix of hiking, boating, and sightseeing,” Renata, a traveler in August, said, noting the small group size meant no long waits.
