Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has finally revealed his furry companion, which puts an end to rumors about a potential memecoin launch.
On Thursday, CZ shared his Belgian Malinois. “Broccoli,” sharing photos of the pup with an explanation of the inspiration behind the name. He wanted something green, starting with “B” and found a playful connection to “blocky” and “blockchain”.
Broccoli’s Story
A year and a half ago, I casually chatted with a friend who owned a (real) zoo in Dubai. Curious, I asked what dog breed is adapted to the Dubai summer heat. I had no plans to get a dog.
Later that evening, my doorbell rang, and a young Belgian Malinois showed… pic.twitter.com/vSLiHiS4fC

CZ Clarifies, No Memecoin Launch
Despite the buzz, CZ was quick to clarify that he has no plans to launch a memecoin himself. However, he hinted that the BNB Foundation may support community-driven meme tokens on the BNB Chain through incentives like liquidity support or rewards.
“I am just posting my dog’s picture and name. I am NOT issuing a meme coin myself. It’s up to the community to do that (or not). I will likely interact with a few of the more popular meme coins on BNB Chain (BSC),” CZ writes on X.
While he won’t be directly involved in any new token, CZ expressed interest in engaging with some of the more popular ones on BNB Chain. With Broccoli now in the spotlight, one can expect the new memecoin trend in the market.
While praising Broccoli’s high stamina, he writes, “Broccoli has lots of energy. Walking doesn’t drain enough of his energy, so I bought a $200 bicycle from Amazon to “walk” him. He jogged for an hour (15km) on the first run without stopping. His stamina is impressive.”
